Northampton Open Masterclasses

August 10 2019 until August 11 2019
From 10:00 - 16:00 each day.

Fernie Fields Sports Club, Fernie Field,
Moulton, Northampton NN3 7BD

Each Master Classes workshop will involve Tai Chi principles, postures, applications and hands-on tuition with plenty of opportunity for questions. All these workshops are suitable for all levels and styles of Tai Chi Chuan practitioners (including external martial arts practitioners). At the end of each workshop, you will hopefully gain a better understanding and clearer insight of different aspects of Tai Chi Chuan.
A rare opportunity to study under Master Ding, 6th Generation Lineage - a chance not to be missed by any practitioners - beginners or advanced level, seeking to further their understanding and improve their standards of Tai Chi Chuan.
Saturday 10.00-13.00 and 14.00-17.00 - Tai Chi principles and concepts:
In essence, all Tai Chi movements are based on common principles and concepts. Without which, such movements are empty. Only by understanding and incorporating such principles in your daily Tai Chi practices will you be able to harness the CHI and use it for health, healing or self-defence.
Sunday 10.00-13.00 - Tai Chi Push Hands:
Push Hands is a form of exercise practised in pair which aim at increasing ones sensitivity to the opponent force of push. It helps one to develop “Teng Ging” or “knowing how to interpret energy” and then uses such skills to deal with any forces. There is a Chinese saying :” Knowing oneself and also one’s opponent will make one hundred times victorious in a hundred battles”.
Sunday 14.00-17.00 - Tai Chi Self-Defence Application:
There have been many misconceptions about the practical applications of Tai Chi Chuan for self-defence, the art being often regarded as only a health exercise. This is a mistaken view as each Tai Chi posture has a logical practical self-defence application. If a posture cannot be used, the move is clearly incorrect. At a high level, Tai Chi Chuan movements simultaneously achieve the apparent paradox or effortlessness and tremendous power. The subtlety of such skill cannot be adequately described - only felt.
